Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Thanks to 2 of our families who donated air purifier units for the school, each homeroom now has an air purifier unit. We are very blessed to have such wonderful, supportive families. Thank you!
We also want to thank everyone for the fun Catholic Schools Week we had! While we couldn’t mingle or hold any large gatherings, we still had fun dressing up each day and playing some games. Please check out our Facebook page for pictures from the week.
VOTE FOR YOUR FAVORITE LOGO/MASCOT IDEA! Students submissions for logos or mascots have been posted to Facebook. Go to our Facebook page and vote for your favorite design! The design that wins will be digitally transformed into a logo/mascot for St. Gerald School. Please vote by February 12.
CALENDAR REMINDER: There will be no school on Monday, February 15 in observance of Presidents’ Day. Extended care services will be available. Please contact the office by Wednesday, February 10 to reserve a spot.
UPDATE: Trimester 2 Progress Reports and I-Ready Reports
Homeroom teachers will be sending home trimester 2 progress reports. Trimester 2 began on December 1 and will conclude on March 12. The progress reports will give you a snapshot of your child(ren)’s progress approximately halfway through the grading period.
The I-Ready reports let you know where your child(ren)’s skills fall in relation to their grade level. Some grades (kindergarten, first, second, fourth grades) have taken I-Ready twice this year and will enable you to view a comparison between the beginning and middle of the school year. Other grades (third, fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth grades) only have data from December. Their second test will be in April. Please check with your child(ren) for their I-Ready report.
OUT OF UNIFORM: Our next OUT OF UNIFORM day is Friday, February 22. We will be collecting funds that day to send to Mrs. Jacky’s Soldiers – an organization that makes and sends care packages to soldiers overseas. We welcome any monetary donation for this great cause. Students may bring in more than $1 to donate.
Spring Break Quarantine
At this time, the Archdiocese has decided not to schedule remote learning after spring break. They are encouraging families to stay within Illinois for break. Right now, anyone that travels outside Illinois must quarantine upon return. St. Gerald’s spring break follows Easter, April 5-9. We still have 2 months before
that time, so the guidelines may get updated. We will keep families posted as more vaccinations roll out and guidelines change.
Registration 21-22
Registration for the 21-22 school year will open next week.
This year registration will begin in the parent portal of Power School. This will allow families to re-register their current students as well as any siblings without having to come into the school or send in paper forms.
Mandatory state and Archdiocesan documents (birth certificate, shot records, etc.) will be collected at a later date.
In order to register your child(ren) for next school year, you must log into the Power School parent portal. If you do not have those credentials, please contact Mrs. Reynolds in the school office, [email protected].
Please watch your email for specific instructions on registering through Power School.
Tuition rates are expected to go up by 2-3%. Rates and fees will be released as soon as the budget has been submitted to and approved by the Archdiocese of Chicago Office of Catholic Schools.
