*Father Malcolm Memory Walk
It’s finally here!!! Friday will be the Fr. Malcolm Memory Walk. Each cohort will spend about 2 hours outside playing games and walking laps in honor of Fr. Malcolm. Students may wear their Memory Walk t-shirts and be out of uniform. It is supposed to be hot that day, so we suggest that students bring a water bottle labeled with their names and dress accordingly. We will have 1 bottled water for each student, but it never hurts to have more on a hot day!
Students will be moving with their cohorts from one activity to another according to their classroom schedules. Students will sanitize hands before and after each activity, wear masks, and stay distant from one another. Equipment will be wiped down between each cohort. There is one water game planned in which students may get a little wet, but if someone is not comfortable with that, he /she may stand off to the side and not participate.
We welcome volunteers to help with the games and walk with the classes. All volunteers must be VIRTUS trained, remain outdoors, wear masks, socially distance themselves, and sanitize hands between activities. We must take precautions as most of the students are not vaccinated and can still contract COVID.
A schedule of activities for each cohort is listed here. Activities were scheduled around lunches, recess, and special classes. Lunch will be McG’s chicken nuggets and will require the purchase of a lunch ticket. The church parking lot will be blocked off for a funeral. However, if you are joining us, you may park in the farthest corner of the lot by the digital marquee. The lot will be blocked off in front the gym.
If you would like to volunteer to help us on Friday, please sign up for a time and activity using the sign-up genius.

*Door Decorating Contest
We will be hosting a door decorating contest with the homerooms/e-learners next week. Each homeroom and e-learner are asked to spend some free time next week decorating their doors under the theme: summer OR travel/vacation. There will be small prizes for the first, second, and third place winners. You may reach out to homeroom teachers to inquire if they need any items for their doors.
*Reminder: There will be no school on Monday, May 31 in honor of Memorial Day.
*I-Ready Diagnostic Testing
This week classes began the final diagnostic testing session of the school year and the testing will continue until all students can finish. Students will test in reading and math and final reports will be sent home when the window ends in early June. Please make sure your child(ren) is in attendance each day and has had plenty of rest the night before. This will help their scores to reflect a more accurate account of what they can do.
*National Junior Honor Society Mass and Induction
While the NJHS hasn’t been able to meet and conduct fundraisers or activities, we do want to recognize new members and members that weren’t inducted last year due to the shutdown. On Tuesday, June 1 we will be inducting new members into NJHS following school Mass at 1:00. Only 6th, 7th, and 8th graders and parents of inductees may attend the Mass and induction. Invitations will be sent to inductees and their parents next week.
*Calendar Reminder: Our last day of school for grades 1-7 will be Friday, June 11. We will dismiss at 11:15 that day and there will be NO extended day services then. All Chromebooks, textbooks, and school owned items need to be turned into homeroom teachers prior to dismissal so that they can be cleaned and fixed over the summer.
8th grade’s last day will be Thursday, June 3 and preschool and kindergarten’s last day will be Tuesday, June 8.
